WORKSHOP: Scientific Writing 2
This 2-day workshop (8 hours total) aims to familiarise students with the scientific writing format and develop writing skills specific to the genre.
Write a stronger abstract and avoid common problems
Practise analyzing the use of language and how to be more concise
Focus on accurate punctuation in writing
Explore the area of grant and CV writing
About the tutor:
Jason Hwang, MAEd
He is originally from California and has been teaching in the Czech Republic since 2005. He focuses mainly on adult teaching, exams preparation, and academic writing for PhD students of science. He has taught academic English at several UK universities (Sheffield, Bristol, Edinburgh, UCL), various faculties at Charles University, SUCHDOL, the Technical University of Liberec, and the Universidad del Desarrollo in Chile, amongst others. Jason holds an MA in Education (Applied Linguistics) and the Cambridge Delta Diploma. He obtained degrees in Biochemistry/Cell Biology and Theatre from the University of California, San Diego. Before getting involved in English teaching, he was working for one of the world’s largest pharmaceutical companies as a researcher, as well as acting with some of San Diego’s many theatre companies.
