PhD studies with dual supervision of dissertations (known under the French name cotutelle) take place on the basis of cooperation between Charles University and a university abroad. Joint supervision of a dissertation is carried out by two supervisors – one from each involved institution – and the doctoral candidate spends a part of the PhD programme at both institutions. This cooperation contributes significantly to the internationalization of PhD studies, and in the long run, to the integration of science and research at the faculties into an international environment.
