Successful supervision of doctoral candidates is a key element of high-quality doctoral education. Charles University therefore actively supports supervisors through a range of educational activities designed to help them develop their professional, pedagogical, and mentoring skills. As part of this support, supervisors are offered specialised courses focused on supervision methodology, pedagogical knowledge, dissertation guidance, effective communication, research ethics, and other important areas.

Methodological Seminar for Supervisors
This seminar focuses on the fundamental rights and responsibilities arising from the supervisor-doctoral candidate relationship. Attendance is mandatory for newly appointed supervisors; existing supervisors are warmly welcome to attend as well.

Introduction to open science and publishing
This seminar will introduce the basic principles of open science and will focus primarily on opening up the publishing process. Participants will learn about various ways of making their research outputs openly accessible, as well as concepts such as registered reports and open peer review. The training will also provide an introduction to the legal aspects of open publishing, with a particular focus on Creative Commons licences.

Research Data Management
