Come, get inspired, and join us for a debate with postdoc Dr. rer. nat. Mgr. Ing. Tomáš Hodík. Our guest will share with us his interesting personal story and how to build a career in the academic sphere and in the area of science and research.

About guest: Dr. rer. nat. Mgr. Ing. Tomáš Hodík

T.H. received his M.Sc. in Organic Chemistry from the University of Chemistry and Technology, Prague, in 2015, where he conducted research with Professor Jiří Svoboda. In parallel, Tomáš earned an M.Sc. in Physical Chemistry from the Charles University in Prague (2015) and was trained in organometallic chemistry at the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic under the guidance of Dr. Jiří Pinkas. Tomáš completed his Ph.D. in the research group of Professor Christoph Schneider at Leipzig University, Germany, as a DAAD fellow. Later, Tomáš joined the research group of Professor Michael J. Krische as a Genentech postdoctoral research fellow. Tomáš investigated the use of ruthenium complexes in site-selective protein modification and focused on total synthesis of natural products. In 2021, T.H. became a member of the Department of Organic and Bioorganic Chemistry at Faculty of Pharmacy at Charles University as an assistant professor and started his independent research in the field of organocatalysis.

The debate will take place on Monday 5 December at the Hybernská Campus in Building 2D. The capacity of the event is 50 people and it is necessary to register in advance.
