WORKSHOP: Scientific Presentations

This 2-day workshop (8 hours total) looks at how to structure an effective presentation and build confidence in presenting in English. Each participant will produce a 4-minute presentation and receive structured feedback from the trainer and their peers.

• Learn how to structure presentations effectively

• Practise language specific to presentations

• Develop more engaging visuals

• Use voice and body language effectively

• Learn how to deal with fear and nervousness

About the tutor:

Jason Hwang, B.S., B.A., M.A.Ed

• He is originally from California and has been teaching in the Czech Republic since 2005.

• He focuses mainly on adult teaching, exams preparation, and academic writing for PhD students of science.

• He has taught academic English at several UK universities (Sheffield, Bristol, Edinburgh, UCL), various faculties at Charles University, SUCHDOL, the Technical University of Liberec, and the Universidad del Desarrollo in Chile, amongst others. Jason holds an MA in Education (Applied Linguistics) and the Cambridge Delta Diploma.

• He obtained degrees in Biochemistry/Cell Biology and Theatre from the University of California, San Diego. Before getting involved in English teaching, he was working for one of the world’s largest pharmaceutical companies as a researcher, as well as acting with some of San Diego’s many theatre companies.
